I am so excited to share with you this documentary about a sacred Shamanic practice and healing ceremony, Ayahuasca. Many of you have asked me about plant medicine, and here is some great information about the practice. Ayahuasca and other plant medicines are not about taking psychedelics, they are about releasing and healing the darkest aspects of ourselves and our experiences. It is a way to connect to higher aspects of ourselves and the higher dimensions of the spirit world.
It is very important to find a reputable Shaman and/or retreat center before committing to this type of deep healing work. I have personally been to several ceremonies over the years with different Shaman. They are still human and some still carry Ego and darkness that does not serve the participants of teh ceremony. When I began doing my research to organize a group retreat, I took a phone call with
one of the most famous centers in Central/South America. The call left me feeling uncertain, I asked my guides to show me why. Very quickly, I “stumbled upon” a very long blog post by someone who had gone to this other Ayahuasca retreat center several times. She was second-guessing her intuition, and kept going back with the same icky experiences. It helped to confirm what I felt from the phone call. I read through the comments, and there were others who had been to that center with the sense that it was more about the money machine, and less focussed on integrity or the sacred ceremony as a healing practice. That was it.
The next retreat center I spoke to was Arkana. The call with their representative was completely different. It was warm, grounded and her energy had a deep compassion. She referred me to the owner/manager of the retreat center, to answer my questions about bringing a whole group down for healing with their 2 Shaman and exploring the beauty and wonders of Machu Picchu. Their small, boutique facility offers yoga, breathwork, meditation, hiking, and farm to table foods prepared on-site from local farms, along with the sacred Ayahuasca ceremony and its polarized healing partner, sacred San Pedro.
I will be speaking with the owner/manager, Jose, next week to gather more information, on available dates, group rate pricing, and more details regarding length of stay, travel, and other features of their facility.
